Fred Miller has been welding for five years and is a certified GTAW "tig" welder in aluminum. Fred likes to bring happiness to his life and to those around him. Through his sculptures, he hopes to make people smile and feel good. Many of his sculptures use welded aluminum or mild steel. It is exciting for him to see his work start out as a sheet of metal and then gradually come to life, so that near the completion it "smiles and says hello" to him. Although welding the peices of aluminum gives him a very content feeling, seeing them evolve into the concept that was in his head is an even greater source of happiness for him. Most of his works portray representative or abstract figures or parts of figures. This leaves the sculptures open to the interpration of the viewer. They can envision their own movement, expressions, features, dreams, and attitudes of the pieces so that each person sees the works a little bit differently.
